St Andrew’s Care Homes is a family-owned business that was founded in 1988.
It’s currently run by Managing Director Chris Ryan, who took over from his parents in 1996. His mum Margaret still serves as a director. Elcombe House in Bedford has been run by Chris since 1998, and Danecroft in Wilstead since 2006.
Chris, is a qualified nurse and a committed advocate of dementia care. He has been a trustee of the award winning local charity TIBBS Dementia Foundation and has served as a member of the Steering Committee for dementia strategy in Bedfordshire. He’s also a former chair of the Bedfordshire branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.
At Elcombe House, Kerri Trudgill is the fully qualified registered manager and is assisted by her experienced Head of Care, Lynn Evans. The registered manager of Danecroft is Rebecca Ward, who works with her experienced deputy, Victoria Hollands.
Staff at both homes undergo regular dementia training, both internally and externally. In association with the local authority, St Andrew’s Care Homes also nominate special ‘champions’. These are staff who’ve shown a particular interest in a specific area of care and are given specialist training.
St Andrew’s Care Homes has consistently met the highest standards of care and both homes are currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission
